Book of Ra RTP, Volatility and Max Win

Facts checked 23 October 2026Independent reviewHow we check facts

Aggregators list Book of Ra deluxe at 95.10 % RTP and the original Classic at 92.13 %, both highly volatile. The figure your casino uses can be lower, because operators choose between RTP settings. Open the game’s info screen at your casino before you play — that number is the one that counts.

RTP by version

Every Book of Ra edition has its own maths. Deluxe, deluxe 6 and Magic sit around 95 %, the Classic at 92.13 %, the Win Ways editions between 94.55 % and 95.15 %. These are published or aggregator figures; individual casinos can run lower configurations.

Why we mark these values with an asterisk: Greentube’s public demo does not state an RTP in its rules, and Novomatic’s product pages list lines, reels and a volatility score but no RTP. The numbers come from SlotCatalog and iGaming Business, which collect them from operators and suppliers. They agree on the main values, but small differences exist — SlotCatalog itself shows both 95.03 % and 95.10 % for Magic.

What RTP actually means

RTP, return to player, is the share of all stakes a game pays back over a very large number of spins. At 95.10 %, €100,000 staked returns about €95,100 on average across all players. It says nothing reliable about one session.

A €50 session at €0.50 per spin is about 100 spins. On a high-volatility slot those 100 spins can end at €0 or at €400, and both outcomes are consistent with a 95.10 % RTP. The difference between 95.10 % and 92.13 % — about €3 per €100 staked — shows up only over thousands of spins. That is still a reason to prefer the higher setting: over a year of play it adds up.

Total stakedExpected cost at 95.10 %Expected cost at 92.13 %
€100€4.90€7.87
€1,000€49.00€78.70
€10,000€490€787
Long-run averages; real results vary widely around them.

Note that “total staked” is not your deposit: €50 played through at €0.50 per spin, with wins re-staked, often adds up to several hundred euros of total stakes.

How to check the RTP in your casino

Open Book of Ra at your casino, press MENU or the “i” button, and look for the return or “payout percentage” line in the rules. Many licensed casinos also list RTPs in a game-information page. If you cannot find it, ask support in writing before you deposit.

  1. Open the game in real or fun mode at the casino. The rules are the same; the info screen shows the casino’s configuration.
  2. Go to MENU → Paytable & Info → Rules. Look for “theoretical return”, “RTP” or “payout ratio”.
  3. Compare with the version table above. Deluxe at 95.10 % is the reference; a noticeably lower number means a lower setting.
  4. Check the regulator’s rules if needed. Some regulators require RTPs to be displayed; if it is missing, that is worth a question to support.

An RTP that changes between your visits, or a “special high-RTP Book of Ra” promoted by an unknown site, is a red flag. Licensed casinos cannot manipulate a game’s return during play.

Volatility: why Book of Ra feels streaky

Volatility describes how a slot spreads its return. Book of Ra is rated high: much of the RTP sits in free games, which are rare, and inside free games in the rounds where a premium symbol expands. The base game alone returns well below the headline RTP.

Novomatic scores the volatility of Book of Ra, deluxe, deluxe 6 and Magic as 5 on its own scale, and aggregators call all of them high. SlotCatalog lists a hit frequency of 28 % for the Classic — roughly one winning spin in three or four, most of them small. The practical effect: budgets disappear faster than RTP suggests, and occasional big rounds make up the difference for a lucky few.

If you want a calmer Book of Ra, deluxe 10 is listed as low-to-medium volatility with a much lower maximum win. It plays very differently from the original.

Maximum win and how it happens

SlotCatalog lists 10,035× the bet for deluxe and 5,000× for the Classic. On a single line, five explorers pay 500× the total bet. The record-level wins come from free games with the explorer chosen and expanded on all five reels across all ten lines.

Ten lines × 500× is already 5,000× for one free game. Add retriggers and normal wins and the theoretical ceiling rises further. In practice, these rounds are extremely rare. Treat the max win as a description of the game’s range, not as a target.

Problems and what to do

Questions about RTP usually come from comparing different sources or versions. These answers cover the common cases.

Two sites give different RTPs

They may describe different versions (Classic vs deluxe) or different operator settings. The info screen in your casino wins.

My casino shows no RTP at all

Ask support in writing. If you get no answer, choose another licensed casino that shows it.

“I lost more than 5 % — the RTP is fake”

RTP is a long-run average across millions of spins. Short sessions can lose much more or win much more.

Someone sells an “RTP tracker” for Book of Ra

Questions

What is the RTP of Book of Ra deluxe?

SlotCatalog lists 95.10 %. The demo’s own rules do not state an RTP, and casinos may run a lower setting, so check the info screen in your casino.

Why is the Classic RTP lower?

The 2005 online Classic is listed at 92.13 %. It is an older build with nine lines; later versions were released with higher RTP settings.

Is a 95 % RTP good?

It is average for online slots. Many modern slots list 96 % or more. Over a session, volatility matters more than a difference of one percentage point.

What is the maximum win in Book of Ra deluxe?

SlotCatalog gives 10,035× the bet. The biggest results come from free games where the explorer expands on all five reels across all ten lines.

Can a casino change the RTP while I play?

No. A licensed casino selects an RTP setting for the game in advance; it cannot change outcomes or the setting during your session.
